DECISION DELIVERED BY STEVEN COOKE ON DECEMBER 12, 2023 AND ORDER OF THE TRIBUNAL
1The matter before the Tribunal was the first Case Management Conference (“CMC”) for the various appeals of the City of Brampton’s (the City”) passage of an Official Plan Amendment (“OPA”) for the interim policies of the Major Transit Station Areas pursuant to s. 17(24) of the Planning Act.
2An Affidavit of Notice of the CMC was issued by the City Clerk Peter Fay on November 8, 2023. Hearing no concerns from the parties that there was any issues with the Notice being served, the Tribunal accepted and marks the Affidavit as Exhibit 1.
3Appearing as counsel for the City, Matthew Rea gave a high-level outline of the matter before the Tribunal and the general areas that the proposed policies of the Major Transit Station Areas would encompass. Mr. Rea also informed the Tribunal that a recent Plan had been adopted by the City, along with new Provincial legislation that requires clarity.
4The Parties requested that the Tribunal schedule a second CMC in late May or early June. Mr. Rea informed the Tribunal that the City was working with the other parties to narrow an Issues List with the desire of being able to present a draft Procedural Order at the next CMC.
5A second CMC has been scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10 a.m. proceed by video.
