DECISION OF THE BOARD; May 16, 2001
This is an application under section 21, 22 or 23 of the Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act, 1997 (the "Act").
A previous decision was issued by the Board in this matter on March 22, 2001.
A representation vote was held in the following bargaining unit: all employees of the Corporation of the Municipality of Highlands East save and except the Clerk-Treasurer, Deputy Clerk, Tax Collector and Treasurer Assistant, Road Superintendent, Environmental Operations supervisor, and students employed during the school vacation period defined as May 15 to September 15.
On the taking of the representation vote a majority of votes was cast in favour of Canadian Union of Public Employees and its Local 4416.
The Board, pursuant to section 23(3) of the Act, appoints the Canadian Union of Public Employees and its Local 4416 as the bargaining agent in respect of the aforementioned bargaining unit.
The responding employer is directed to post copies of this decision where it is most likely to come to the attention of all employees who may be affected by it. These copies are to remain posted for 30 days.
The Registrar will destroy the ballots cast in the representation vote following the expiration of 30 days from the date of this decision unless a statement requesting that the ballots should not be destroyed is received by the Board from one of the parties before the expiration of each 30 day period.
