Slater Steel Inc. v. Mike Nadeau and the Minister of Labour
File No.: 0459-01-HS Date: May 29, 2001 Ontario Labour Relations Board
Applicant: Slater Steel Inc. Responding Parties: Mike Nadeau and the Minister of Labour
Before: Harry Freedman, Vice-Chair
Decision of the Board
1The Board, by decision in this application under section 49(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, R. S. O. 1990, c. 0. 1, as amended, (the “Act”) dated May 10, 2001 directed the applicant to file additional materials as more particularly set out in paragraph 3 of that decision. The material was to have been filed with the Board by May 18, 2001. By letter dated May 24, 2001, the applicant’s representative requested a four week extension and indicated that the applicant and the union that represents the individual responding party are trying to resolve the issue raised by the application.
2The Board is satisfied to extend the time for filing the requisite material for four weeks as requested by the applicant. Therefore, the Board extends the time for filing the material described in paragraph 3 of the Board’s May 10th decision in this matter to Friday June 15, 2001. Should the applicant not file the requisite material on or before that date, this application will be dismissed.
3The Board notes that a Labour Relations Officer was assigned to meet with the parties and attempt to assist them to resolve the issues in dispute. The Board’s decision extending the time for filing material does not affect the Officer’s assignment, the report date set out in paragraph 5 of the Board’s May 10, 2001 decision, or the directions the Board issued in paragraphs 5, 6 and 7 of that decision.
4This panel of the Board is not seized with this matter.
