3204-99-ES Angela Henry, Applicant v. Dr. Talita Gill operationg as Courtice Corners and Ministry of Labour, Responding Parties.
Employment Practices Branch File No. 33 001274
BEFORE: Marilyn Silverman, Vice‑Chair.
DECISION OF THE BOARD; September 21, 2000
1This is a request by the employer for an adjournment of an employment standards matter scheduled for October 5, 2000.
2The notice of hearing is dated August 10, 2000 and this request is dated September 5, 2000.
3The stated reason for the request is that the employer’s professional schedule is disrupted by the hearing date. Further various witnesses are also inconvenienced. The responding employer further requests that witnesses appearances be scheduled throughout the hearing day.
4The applicant opposes this request on the basis that no early request for an adjournment was made and her witnesses are available.
5The Board will generally not adjourn a matter without consent of the parties. There is no compelling reason provided to adjourn this matter. The request to adjourn the hearing is denied.
