Ontario Labour Relations Board
1850-00-R International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers (Cement Division), Applicant v. King Packaged Materials Company, Responding Party v. United Steelworkers of America, Local 2020, Intervenor.
BEFORE: Patrick Kelly, Vice‑Chair, and Board Members J. A. Rundle and D. A. Patterson.
DECISION OF THE BOARD; September 28, 2000
1The Board is in receipt of correspondence from counsel for the intervenor, dated September 28, 2000, indicating that the intervenor no longer wishes to continue to represent the employees who are the subject of the present certification application.
2In its decision of September 27, 2000, the Board directed that voters participating in the representation vote on September 29, 2000 be asked to indicate whether or not they wish to be represented by the applicant or in the intervenor in their employment relations with the responding party. Given the intervenor’s position, it is necessary to vary that part of the Board’s decision.
3Paragraph 9 of the Board’s September 27, 2000 decision is hereby varied by substituting the following:
“Voters will be asked to indicate whether or not they wish to be represented by the applicant in their employment relations with the responding party.”
4All other aspects of the Board’s September 27, 2000 decision are confirmed.
5The responding party is directed to post copies of this decision adjacent to each of the posted copies of the Board’s decision of September 27, 2000 for the remainder of the time that the decision of September 27. 2000 was directed to be posted.
