1459-99-T Canadian Union of Public Employees, Applicant v. Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1883, Responding Party.
BEFORE: Stephen Raymond, Vice-Chair, and Board Members J. Ronson and H. Peacock.
DECISION OF THE BOARD; November 8, 2000
The Board is in receipt of a letter from Jack Byrne (a copy of which is attached). In that letter, Mr. Byrne takes issue with various actions of CUPE. He asks, among other things, that the Board require CUPE to give more notice of the actions that it is taking.
By decision of the Board dated July 25, 2000, we extended the trusteeship of the local until December 31, 2000 and indicated that if there was a need to extend the trusteeship then CUPE was to inform the Board by October 31, 2000. No such indication has come from CUPE and accordingly, the trusteeship will not be extended beyond December 31, 2000. It appears that Mr. Byrne’s main concern is that the trusteeship come to an end and it will do so.
It appears to the Board that the steps that CUPE is taking are the appropriate ones to end the trusteeship of the local and the Board will not review the manner in which CUPE has done so at this time.
This panel remains seized of any matters that arise in connection with the trusteeship.
