DECISION OF THE BOARD; December 28, 2000
1. This is a director’s appeal of an order to pay.
2. The matter is scheduled to be heard on January 3, 2001. Counsel for the applicant has requested an adjournment for two reasons: a settlement meeting scheduled for January 12, 2001 may resolve the issues, and there are still outstanding document production issues between the applicant and the Ministry of Labour.
3. The Ministry of Labour and the CAW-Canada consent to the adjournment request. The other affected employees have been advised of the request, but have not taken any position. Realistically, they have not had much time to do so.
4. Having regard to the reasons for the adjournment request, the consent of some of the parties, and the need to make a decision promptly, the Board agrees to the request. The hearing scheduled for January 3, 2001 is adjourned.
5. This matter is referred to the Registrar who is directed to reschedule the matter unless advised by January 15, 2001 that the matter is settled.
6. The panel of the Board that is seized with the issues relating to the production of documents will address those issues shortly.
