Ontario Public Service Employees Union v. The Corporation of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville
1942-00-R Ontario Public Service Employees Union, Applicant v. The Corporation of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville; Brockville General Hospital; and Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 252, Responding Parties.
BEFORE: Bram Herlich, Vice-Chair.
DECISION OF THE BOARD; November 9, 2000
Decision
Counsel for the responding party asserts that this application is premature since its client will not be assuming responsibility for the operation of the ambulance services in the Leeds and Grenville area until January 1, 2001.
The Board is asked to deal with this issue on an expedited basis.
The Board’s normal process is underway. A report date is fixed at November 17, 2000. If the matter is not resolved by that date, the Board will, as its usual practice, schedule a hearing into the matter. Given the volume of the Board’s caseload it is highly unlikely that any such hearing will commence prior to 2001.
I see no reason to depart from the Board’s normal process in this case.
If there are preliminary issues extant at the commencement of the hearing, the panel assigned to hear the case may deal with them at that time.
