Ontario Labour Relations Board
2732-99-R Office & Professional Employees International Union Local 26, Applicant v. Northern Credit Union Limited, The United Steelworkers of America, and Valley Savings (Renfrew County) Union Inc., Responding Parties.
BEFORE: Patrick Kelly, Vice-Chair, and Board Members J. A. Ronson and R. R. Montague.
DECISION OF THE BOARD; April 4, 2000
1By decision dated March 8, 2000 the Board, differently constituted, gave effect to the agreement of the parties and ordered the taking of a representation vote in which voters were to be asked whether they wish to be represented by the applicant or the responding party, The United Steelworkers of America ("the USWA") in their employment relations with the responding party employer.
2On the taking of the representation vote on March 20 and 21, 2000, more than fifty per cent of the ballots cast by the employees were cast in favour of the applicant.
3The Board hereby declares that the USWA no longer represents the employees of Northern Credit Union Limited for whom it has heretofore been the bargaining agent; and that the applicant has acquired the bargaining rights with respect to the employees of Northern Credit Union Limited formerly represented by the USWA.
4The Registrar will destroy the ballots cast in the representation vote taken in this matter following the expiration of 30 days from the date of this decision unless a statement requesting that the ballots should not be destroyed is received by the Board from one of the parties before the expiration of such 30 day period.
5Meeting and hearing dates set previously are hereby cancelled.
6The employer is directed to post copies of this decision immediately, adjacent to all copies of the "Notice of Vote" posted previously. These copies must remain posted for a period of 30 days.
