UPON APPLICATION to the Licence Appeal Tribunal by, 2642985 Ontario Inc. (the “Appellant”), and the Registrar, Consumer Reporting Agencies (the “Respondent”), for issuance of a Consent Order without a hearing pursuant to section 4.1 of the Statutory Powers and Procedure Act, RSO 1990, c S. 22; and
UPON READING and having reviewed the settlement agreement and the terms and conditions between the Appellant and Respondent, marked as Schedule “A” to the herein Consent Order, as to the disposition of these proceedings;
THE TRIBUNAL ORDERS that the terms and conditions set out in Schedule “A” are hereby incorporated and made part of this Order.
THE TRIBUNAL FURTHER ORDERS that this matter is concluded and disposed of without a hearing.

SCHEDULE “A”
Pursuant to subsection 4(3) of the Consumer Reporting Act, RSO 1990, c. C. 33 (the “Act”), 2642984 Ontario Inc. (the “Registrant”) and the Registrar, Consumer Reporting Agencies (the “Registrar”), in accordance with section 4.1 of the Statutory Powers and Procedure Act, RSO 1990, c S. 22, consent to an order of the Licence Appeal Tribunal (the “Consent Order”) based on the following terms and conditions:
- The website used by the Registrant, 2642985 Ontario Inc., shall:
(a) Clearly and prominently disclose that consumers have a right to request the disclosure of information that the Registrant holds pertaining to the consumer,
(b) Clearly and prominently describe how the consumer can make the request referred to in (a); and
(c) Clearly and prominently disclose how the consumer may dispute the accuracy and the completeness of the information in their files.
When furnishing personal information as provided for in section 8 of the Act, the Registrant shall advise the recipient of the information, that it is a contravention of the Act to request or obtain a consumer report containing personal information of a consumer unless the recipient first gives written notice of the consumer report and the personal information to the consumer and, where the consumer so requests, informs the consumer of the name and address of the consumer reporting agency supplying the report.
When furnishing information as provided for in section 8 of the Act, the Registrant shall advise the recipient that if the information provided, wholly or partly informs a decision to deny a benefit to a consumer, the recipient must give notice to the consumer of the denial of a benefit to the consumer, and upon request of the consumer, inform the consumer of the name and address of the Registrant(s) pursuant to subsection 10(7) of the Act.
When receiving information from a reporting member, the Registrant shall advise that member that the Act prohibits persons from knowingly supplying false or misleading information to another who is engaged in making a consumer report.
When receiving unfavourable information from a reporting member, the Registrant shall advise the reporting member that the Registrant must make reasonable efforts to corroborate the evidence on which the personal information is based and that, if the evidence cannot be corroborated, it will be noted on the entry.
The Registrant has provided the Registrar with a dispute and update (error correction) process for the consumer to dispute information in the consumer report (attached as Appendix “1” to this Schedule “A”). The Registrant will establish and maintain a dispute and update (error correction) process that conforms with the Act.
This Consent Order is a substitute for the notice of proposal to suspend the registration of 2642985 Ontario Inc. dated 12th day of July 2021 which is hereby withdrawn and removed from the Registrant’s file with the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
Subject to the above noted conditions in this Consent Order, the Registrant’s registration will continue unabated and unencumbered.
The Registrant acknowledges having obtained, or has had the opportunity to obtain, independent legal advice with respect to the consent to the terms and conditions.

What should I expect after filing a dispute?
Once you’ve filed your dispute by mail or email, expect the following:
1. Investigation of your dispute
When reviewing your dispute, if we are able to make changes based on the information you provided, we will do so. Otherwise, we will contact the company that reported the information to us to verify the accuracy of the information you’re disputing.
2. Your dispute will be processed as quickly as possible and within a reasonable timeframe
After our investigation is complete, a confirmation letter or email will be sent to you with the results and outcome of the investigation. If we require additional information in order to complete our investigation, we will notify you.
3. How does the dispute process work? File a dispute for free
If you see information on your Tenant Record that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete, please submit a Dispute & Update Form.
Results completed within 5-20 days
Your dispute will be processed within 20 business days, and communication will be sent to you with the results and outcome of the investigation.
