HEARING
July 2, 2025
Decision
1A hearing was scheduled in this matter on July 2, 2025. The Grievor failed to attend the hearing. Counsel for the Union explained that the Grievor had indicated that she had a history of mental health challenges and that she could not engage with the grievance process at the moment.
2This Order addresses the next steps in this matter.
3The matter shall be adjourned sine die subject to the Grievor providing a suitable explanation for her inability to attend on July 2, 2025.
4OPSEU will communicate this Order to the Grievor upon receipt.
5The Grievor will have until January 5, 2026, to provide an explanation, including any supporting medical documentation, for her non-attendance at the hearing on July 2, 2025.
6The Employer takes the position that liability for lost wages, if any is established, ceases to accrue as of the date of this Order. The Parties reserve all rights to make any argument they see fit with respect to lost wages.
7If the Grievor does not explain her failure to attend the hearing by January 5, 2026, or if she fails to attend any future hearing dates, the parties will be invited to provide submissions as to whether the Grievance should be dismissed.
8I remain seized.
Dated at Toronto, Ontario this 22nd day of August 2025.
