HEARING
August 21, 2015
Decision
1This grievance was filed on October 17, 2014 disputing the Employer’s process for granting an unpaid leave of absence so that the Grievor could engage in employment outside of the OPS.
2A hearing in this matter was scheduled for August 21, 2015. The Employer and the Union appeared before me and I was informed that the Grievor had not shown up. The Union tried to contact the Grievor by telephone. However, it was not successful.
3After waiting until 10:30 to ensure that the Grievor was indeed not going to appear, Employer counsel requested that this grievance be dismissed. I am reluctant to do so at this point without giving the Grievor notice. Therefore I hereby order that within two weeks, the Grievor must provide sufficient reasons as to why he could not show up on this day. Should no reasons be provided or I deem them insufficient, then this matter will be deemed to be dismissed.
Dated at Toronto, Ontario this 21st day of August 2015.
