HEARING

July 9, 2015

Decision

1At the beginning of the hearing on July 9, 2015 I was advised there was a media representative present in the hearing room.

2At the same time I was advised by union counsel that there has been a publication ban issued by the court with respect to related criminal proceedings.

3It would not be appropriate for the grievance arbitration process to undermine a court-ordered ban, and potentially prejudice the criminal proceedings. Therefore, I decided that it would be appropriate to order a ban on the publication of any of the evidence presented in the hearing before me. This order confirms the verbal interim publication ban issued at the hearing on July 9. This publication ban is in effect until further notice.

4I will review this interim order after receiving confirmation of the terms of the court-ordered ban.
