HEARING
August 24, 2004.
Decision
These individual and group grievances allege the employer failed to ensure the security of documents containing confidential information about employees. When settlement efforts failed, I was to rule on the employer’s preliminary objection contending this board has no jurisdiction to hear any of these grievances. The parties agreed my ruling would be made without reasons and on a non-precedential basis under article 22.16.7 of the collective agreement. In my view, these matters do not lie within the jurisdiction of this board. Accordingly, the grievances are dismissed.
Dated at Toronto this 25th day of August 2004.
