Decision
The parties agreed that this matter be referred to mediation/ arbitration. The parties attended before the mediator/arbitrator on May 24, 2000. At the arbitration the parties requested that this matter be decided in an expeditious manner without written reasons.
This matter involves the application of Appendix 9 and 18 of the collective agreement. The employer raised a number of preliminary issues relating to previous decisions and settlements involving the privatization of the tree nurseries.
The parties were given a full opportunity to make submissions. Having regard to all the documents tendered, and the submissions made at the hearing, the grievances are dismissed.
