PERIODIC REVIEW DECISION
Introduction
1In its Decision issued June 18, 1992 (Original Decision) the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) awarded compensation to the Applicant, including monthly periodic payments. The monthly payments are subject to review by the CICB.
2To date the Applicant has received $331,161.92 in total compensation and receives a monthly periodic payment of $1,000.00.
3Section 25 of the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act, RSO 1990, c. C22, as amended (CVCA), gives the CICB the authority to review its orders. On a section 25 review the CICB can decide whether to continue the periodic payment, vary the payment or discontinue the payment entirely. In making its decision the CICB considers:
a. any new evidence that has become available;
b. any change of circumstances that has occurred or is likely to occur since the original order was made or varied; and
c. any other matter the CICB considers relevant.
4This review hearing was conducted in writing.
Decision
5After careful consideration of all the available documents, I am satisfied there is no new evidence which affects the amount or the continuation of the periodic payments. I also find that the Applicant's circumstances have not changed and the periodic payment award continues to be appropriate.
6Therefore the monthly periodic payments award of $1,000.00 will continue pursuant to the conditions noted in the Original Decision.
7The Applicant will receive the maximum allowable compensation for periodic payments, being the sum of $365,000.00, on October 1, 2022. No further payments will be made after October 2022.
