pROCEDURAL Order of the Assessment Review Board
This matter came before the Assessment Review Board at a hearing event on August 21, 2015. The Applicant is seeking relief from paying property taxes due to sickness or extreme poverty.
Although Applicant had received detailed instructions from the Assessment Review Board and the Municipality regarding the evidence needed to support her application, she brought no supporting evidence to the hearing.
The Board is allowing an adjournment to give the Applicant another opportunity to prepare and submit her supporting evidence.
The Board orders that:
The hearing will begin on December 4, 2015 at 11:00a.m., at 60 Main Street, Dundas Townhall Council Hearing No. 606830. No adjournments or delays will be granted before or during the hearing except for serious hardship or illness. The Board’s Rules apply to such requests.
The Applicant shall disclose to the City of Hamilton’s representative, Val Mitchell, no later than October 30, 2015 copies of the following documentary evidence:
- Income for all members of the household for the 2014 calendar year. The evidence should include but is not limited to Canada Revenue Agency’s Notice of Assessment, employment pay statements and bank statements.
- All household expenses for the 2014 calendar year. Expenses include but are not limited to utilities, food, maintenance costs for house, vehicles and other property, insurance, mortgage payments, condominium fees, clothing, travel, entertainment, telephones, cable, internet and healthcare costs including medication and therapies.
- The value of all assets such as real estate, vehicles, boats or other recreational vehicles, savings, investments, pensions, RRSP, etc.
- All debts which include mortgages, credit cards, lines of credit, bank loans etc.
