SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT TO COUNCIL REGARDING SANCTION ON DEFERRED ITEM CC27.11: MAYOR ROB FORD

SUMMARY
A report on a violation of the Code of Conduct was filed on October 23, 2012 for the meeting of October 30 and 31, 2012. That report recommended a finding that Mayor Rob Ford breached Article XII of the Code of Conduct and recommended that City Council impose a reprimand. That item was deferred.
On February 12, 2013, the Integrity Commissioner was informed by the Medical Officer of Health (the "MOH") that Mayor Rob Ford apologized to him on that day. Dr. McKeown has accepted the apology. This further supplementary report recommends no further sanction as a result of this apology.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The Integrity Commissioner recommends:
a. City Council adopt a finding that Mayor Rob Ford breached Article XII of the Code of Conduct.
b. City Council adopt the recommendation that no sanction be imposed by Council on Mayor Rob Ford.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This supplementary report will have no financial impact on the City of Toronto.
DECISION HISTORY
City Council has before it deferred Item CC27.11, a report to Council from the Integrity Commissioner. That report recommended a finding that Mayor Rob Ford breached Article XII of the Code of Conduct and recommended that City Council impose a reprimand.
Mayor Ford has now apologized to Dr. McKeown for his conduct. As a result, the Integrity Commissioner recommends that Council impose no further sanction.
