The Children's Aid Society brought a motion within a protection application seeking to place the child in the temporary care of the father with supervision terms, and to order supervised parenting time for the mother.
The court noted that the family was already involved in parallel proceedings under the Children's Law Reform Act in the Superior Court of Justice, where a judge was actively case managing the matter and had previously ordered parenting time.
To avoid conflicting orders and multiple proceedings, and noting the short notice given to the self-represented father, the court adjourned the society's motion and ordered that the child remain in the temporary care of the father without prejudice, declining to make temporary parenting time or supervision orders at this stage.
