The applicant filed an Application alleging discrimination contrary to the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19 (the “Code”). By Interim Decision, 2016 HRTO 373, the Tribunal deferred consideration of the Application pending the conclusion of another proceeding.
In August 2016, the respondent advised the Tribunal that the applicant had unfortunately passed away.
By letter dated August 29, 2016, the Tribunal sought information on whether anyone was authorized to act on behalf of the applicant’s estate. The Tribunal advised that the applicant’s estate should provide a certificate of appointment of estate trustee that authorizes a trustee to act on behalf of the applicant’s estate by September 19, 2016.
The applicant’s husband contacted the Tribunal for information and was referred to the Human Rights Legal Support Center for advice. The Tribunal extended the deadline for a response on the estate issue to September 26, 2016.
Neither the applicant’s husband nor anyone else representing the applicant’s estate has provided the information sought by the Tribunal and the time for doing so has now passed.
