1This is an Application filed under section 34 of Part IV of the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19, as amended (the “Code”)
2On December 3, 2014, the Tribunal wrote to the applicant delivering the respondents’ Response, Request to Dismiss and Request for Summary Hearing. In the letter the applicant was directed to respond to the dismissal issues raised by the respondents, Waterloo Region Police Services, Matt Torigian, Kevin Chalk, William Zettel, Darren Hayes, Margeret Smale, Kenneth Jessop, and Bryan Larkin in their Response (Form 2), and to respond to their Request for a Summary Hearing (Form 26).
3Similarly, on February 6, 2015, the Tribunal wrote to the applicant again directing that she respond to the dismissal issues raised by the respondent The Children’s Aid Society of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.
4Both letters explained to the applicant that if she did not respond as directed the Applications may be dismissed as abandoned.
5Further, on December 23, 2014, the Tribunal emailed the applicant asking that she confirm her contact information as correspondence to her had been returned as “unclaimed”.
6Finally, on March 10, 2015, the Tribunal wrote to the applicant to remind her of these earlier Directions and further directed that the applicant respond to these directions by no later than March 25, 2015 or her Application may be dismissed as abandoned.
7The applicant has not responded to any of these Directions and the time for doing so passed.
8The filing of an Application commences a legal proceeding which engages significant public and private resources. It is the Tribunal’s expectation that the parties to an Application will participate in the process. This includes responding to issues raised by the other parties in the proceeding and to Directions made by the Tribunal from time to time.
9In all of the circumstances, I find that the applicant has abandoned this Application and it is dismissed.
