1A summary hearing of this Application is scheduled by teleconference for March 1, 2013.
2On February 25, 2013 the applicant submitted an adjournment request on the ground that there had been a tragedy in her family that prevents her from participating in the teleconference. The respondent’s position is that the request should be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Tribunal’s Practice Direction on Scheduling of Hearings and Mediations, Rescheduling Requests and Requests for Adjournments, which specifies that adjournments are only granted in exceptional circumstances. The applicant replied to this by providing more details of her request. She indicates that the family member is her father and she is attending his funeral.
3I am satisfied that by providing this additional detail the applicant has demonstrated that there are exceptional circumstances which justify adjourning the scheduled teleconference.
