INTERIM DECISION
Adjudicator: Michelle Flaherty
Indexed as: Poulin v. RBC Insurance
WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS
Maryse Poulin, Applicant ) On her own behalf
RBC Assurance Voyage, Suzanne ) Annie G. Berthiaume, Fredette, Lyna De Palma, and Martha ) Counsel Thurnill, Respondents, )
1The applicant filed an Application under s. 34 of the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19, as amended (the "Code"), in which she alleges discrimination in employment because of place of origin. She also alleges reprisal or threat of reprisal.
2In an earlier Interim Decision, 2011 HRTO 132, the Tribunal requested submissions from the parties regarding the Tribunal's jurisdiction (power to decide). It appeared that the corporate respondent might be a federal government department, agency, or a federally regulated business or service.
3The respondents filed submissions in response to the Tribunal's Interim Decision indicating that the corporate respondent is provincially-regulated. The respondents take no issue with the Tribunal's jurisdiction in this matter.
4I conclude that the Tribunal has jurisdiction over the Application.
5I am not seized of this matter.
Dated at Toronto, this 30th day of May, 2011.
