1This is an Application filed on August 16, 2010 under section 34 of Part IV of the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19 as amended (the “Code”). As the applicant was under the age of 18 at the time of the events underlying the Application and records about him subject to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, S.C. 2002, c.1 (“YCJA”), the Tribunal will use initials to identify him in its decisions and correspondence. See S.K. v. Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy, 2010 HRTO 1270.
2The respondents William Blair, Peter Eckersall, Christopher Groff and Brian Keller have requested an extension of time to file a Response pending court proceedings to obtain access to records relating to the applicant, which are subject to the YCJA. These respondents have canvassed dates in December 2010 and January 2011 with the applicant for the hearing of their motion in Youth Court. The Tribunal requested comments from the other parties on the request. The respondent the Toronto Police Services Board supports the request. No other party has filed submissions.
3Having regard to the material before it, the Tribunal grants the request. The Tribunal will extend the deadline for filing the Response. The individual respondents will have 30 days following receipt of the records to file their Response.
