Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario
B E T W E E N:
Elizabeth Syrett
Applicant
-and-
Halton Regional Police
Respondent
DECISION
Adjudicator: David A. Wright
Indexed as: Syrett v. Halton Regional Police
1This is an Application filed under s. 34 of the Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19 (the “Code”), alleging discrimination in goods, services or facilities by the respondent on the basis of race, disability and ancestry.
2On June 4, 2009, the Tribunal issued a Notice of Intent to Dismiss stating that it appeared that the Application is outside the Tribunal’s jurisdiction because it did not indicate how the Halton Regional Police are alleged to have violated the Code on the listed grounds. The applicant wrote to the Tribunal in response, but did not give any further information about how the Code was allegedly violated.
3I have reviewed the Application, and it does not indicate how the Halton Regional Police are alleged to have violated the Code on the grounds of race, disability or ancestry. Accordingly, I find that the Application does not raise matters that are within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal to decide.
4The Application is dismissed.
Dated at Toronto, this 28th day of July, 2009.
