Summary
The Board of Inquiry finds that the complainant, whose name cannot be published because of an order of the Board, was sexually harassed by Joseph Medeiros, the owner of Ruby's Food Services in Kingston, Ontario.
The Board of Inquiry finds that "A" who worked for Mr. Medeiros as a bartender was sexually harassed both verbally and through unwanted touching on a frequent basis between February and August 1989. The Board accepts "A"'s evidence that she made it clear to Mr. Medeiros that she disliked his behaviour and wanted him to stop. In August 1989, Ms. A left her employment because she could not tolerate the continuing harassment.
The Board of Inquiry awards Ms. A $1,000.00 as compensation for the humiliation she experienced and $346.90 in compensation for lost wages, with interest on the award.
