ORDER
Introduction
1The Applicant asks the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (“CICB”) to provide her with bereavement counselling in connection to a crime of violence perpetrated by the Offender on [date], 1987, in accordance with the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act, RSO 1990, c. C.24, as amended (the “Act”).
Issue
2The CICB must determine the appropriate level of compensation.
Analysis and Decision
3Police documentation indicates that on [date], 1987, the Offender followed the Applicant’s then [age] old sister into the washroom and fatally stabbed her. The Offender was convicted of Frist Degree Murder. The fact the Offender has been convicted of a crime of violence is conclusive evidence the event occurred. Accordingly, I find the deceased to be a victim within the meaning of section 5(a) of the Act.
4Where a death has occurred as a result of a crime of violence, family members of the victim may be eligible for certain compensation under the Act. These are as follows:
Expenses related to funeral and burial services;
Loss of Income that the victim had provided to support a dependant;
Expenses incurred by a non-parent related to the support of the victim’s minor children;
Bereavement counselling to assist in coping with the immediate grief symptoms;
Any other expense related to the death that the Board deems reasonable to incur.
5The Applicant requested bereavement to assist her in coping with the death of her sister. On [date], 2016, an Interim Award was made by the CICB in which $400.00 was paid to Dr. [Name] for past therapy and a maximum of $1,500.00 was pre-authorized to Dr. [Name] to provide ongoing therapy to the Applicant as a rate of $125.00 per session.
6Having considered the Applicant’s request, the CICB will now authorize Dr. [Name] to provide up to an additional 12 sessions of therapy to the Applicant at a cost of $125.00 per session upon the expiry of the Interim Award funding. The total cost of these sessions is not to exceed $1,500.00. Payment will be made directly to Dr. [Name] upon submission of an invoice and the required verification from the Applicant. Please note this authorization is effective from the date of this Order.
Award

Paid to Dr. [Name] Section 7(1)(a) Past Therapy $ 400.00
Section 7 (1) (a) Future Therapy $1,500.00
TOTAL PAID/AUTHORIZED PRIOR TO HEARING $1,900.00
8The CICB now authorizes future payment as follows:
To Dr. [Name] Section 7(1)(a) Expenses (future therapy costs) to a maximum of: $1,500.00
TOTAL PRE-AUTHORIZED FOR FUTURE COUNSELLING: $1,500.00
DATED at Toronto this 6th day of March, 2017.
