Exemptive relief granted to mutual funds regarding short selling limits, collateral deposits, and multiple custodians.
The Filer applied for exemptive relief on behalf of several alternative and conventional mutual funds from certain provisions of National Instrument 81-102.
The requested relief sought to permit the alternative funds to short sell securities up to 100% of their net asset value to implement market-neutral strategies.
Additionally, the Filer sought relief to allow the funds to deposit portfolio assets with borrowing agents that are not their custodians up to higher limits, and to appoint multiple custodians.
The principal regulator granted the requested exemptions, subject to specific conditions regarding leverage limits, risk management, and reconciliation processes.
